Red Duck Porter

My experimentation with some darker beers continues. Tonight I have sampled a Red Duck  porter from the Purrumbeet Brewing Company in Camperdown A fine drop for a cold night like tonight. Stay tuned for more Porters and stouts (although I will be off the air for the next few weeks as I take a holiday)

Brewer: Purrumbeet Brewing Company (Red Duck), Camperdown

Variety: Unfiltered Porter (6.4%ABV)

The marketers say: not as black as a stout, similar, but with more body and a greater complexity from many different specialty malts, including roast barley. You might discover hints of dark chocolate, toffee, molasses, treacle, some people even think liquorice…

Appearance: Beautiful foamy cream head on a brown/very dark red boby

Aroma: A touch of caramel and chocolate.

Taste: I reasonable amount of chocolate and malt but a fairly biting aftertaste. A little like a dash of pure alcohol had been thrown in at the end.

Overall: Not a bad drop but strongly alcoholic taste was a little off-putting.

Cheers
